Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ACA Marketplace?

The Health Insurance Marketplace (also known as the Exchange) is where you can shop for and enroll in health insurance plans that meet ACA standards. Plans are available during Open Enrollment (Nov 1 - Jan 15) or if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

Who qualifies for subsidies?

Most people with household incomes between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level qualify for premium tax credits. Under current rules (through 2025), even those above 400% FPL may qualify if premiums would exceed 8.5% of income.

When can I enroll?

Open Enrollment for 2026 coverage typically runs from November 1, 2025 to January 15, 2026. Outside this window, you need a qualifying life event (job loss, marriage, having a baby, moving) to enroll.

Are all ACA plans the same?

All ACA plans must cover 10 Essential Health Benefits, but they differ in premiums, deductibles, copays, networks, and extra benefits. Comparing plans is important to find the best fit for your situation.
